I originally saw one of these VX Time Machine Quasar VCR's as a teenager on the shelf at a video rental store in the 80s! I was very glad to have found one THIS YEAR in such amazing condition. I also received the original box with packing material. In this video we discuss the Quasar VR1000, dive into its circuits, show you where the faults were and how to repair/re-thread a tape. Attempting to go where no other YouTuber has gone before in previous videos of this machine! There may be a flux capacitor inside!
Side note: I've learned that the removable RF Modulator was preset to channel 3 or 4 and could be swapped. It likely did not have the option to output PAL.
Another side note: PBS claimed the short French Chef portion of the video so I removed it.
Quasar's VR-1000 VCR cost $995 in 1977 and records two hours on a single $25 cassette.
