The One High Point Commission Documentary focuses on the stories of African-American High Point, North Carolina residents and how racism has affected individuals in the past and in society today. Thank you to all documentary participants.
One High Point Commission Board Details
The One High Point Commission was created by the High Point City Council on Feb. 7, 2022, through the adoption of a resolution for the formation of a commission to explore community reparations for the African-American Citizens of High Point.
Per the resolution, The commission was tasked with creating a written report of its findings and recommendations to the High Point City Council. It will automatically dissolve 90 days after submitting this report to the City Council on Sept. 18, 2023.
The One High Point Commission is comprised of two City Council members, nine High Point residents and two NAACP representatives. In addition, two High Point City residents were appointed as non-voting alternates. Individuals were selected to serve on the commission by their education, training, activism or experience, particularly in African-American studies and reparatory justice.
