Why We Poured GALLONS of PAINT On This Singer!
Why did we turn this musician into a living canvas? When working with the band Susto on their Double Rainbow music video, we knew we needed the performance to be as eye-catching as the narrative - Bob Ross tripping on acid. Our strategy? Cover Susto's frontman, Justin Osborne, with gallons of paint. First, we draped our set in white plastic, dressed Justin in white coveralls, and handed him a guitar destined for destruction. With only two precious takes at our disposal, we set up a three-camera array to capture close-ups, wide shots, and extreme slow-motion angles simultaneously. Our crew took positions, choreographing our paint-flinging in time with the music. When the song crescendoed, we went all out, showering Justin in a kaleidoscope of colors. He described it as apocalyptic; we found it exhilarating. The end results nailed the ‘art come to life’ aesthetic we were looking for!
