IKEA Meatballs are the secret ingredient to achieving classic rendang flavours without spending hours in the kitchen!

This innovative recipe is a creative collaboration between Masterchef Malaysia contestant and award-winning cookbook author, Abang Brian, and IKEA Malaysia to celebrate the Ramadan season with Swedish Food Market ingredients. Watch and follow the full recipe to Riang Ria Rai bersama IKEA!​

Ingredients​

Ingredients A​​
6 small red onions​​
2 cloves garlic​​
1 inch ginger​​
1 inch turmeric​​
1 inch galangal​​
1 lemongrass​​
8 dried chillies​​
2 tbsp IKEA Chilli Sauce
Water​

Ingredients B​​
1/2 tbsp coriander seeds​​
1/2 tbsp cumin​​
1/2 tsp fennel seeds​​

Other Ingredients​​
¾ cups cooking oil​​
500g IKEA Beef Meatballs​​
2 cups thick coconut milk​​
½ dried tamarind slice​​
1 tbsp roasted coconut paste​​
1 turmeric leave​​
2 kaffir lime leaves​​
Gula Melaka and IKEA sea salt flakes to taste​
IKEA ROSTAD LOK fried onion, turmeric leaves julienned and sliced red chillies, for garnishing​

Steps:​​
1. Crush the combination of dried ingredients B using a pestle & mortar or food processor.​​
2. Blitz all ingredients A using a blender and add water until it forms a smooth paste.​​
3. Pour the paste into a heat-proof bowl and microwave it for 5 minutes until the chilli oil separates.​​
4. Add in the blended ingredients B and all other ingredients and microwave it for another 10 minutes.​​
5. Fold in frozen IKEA Meatballs and microwave for 10 more minutes.​​
6. Top with a generous amount of IKEA fried onions.​​
7. Garnish with turmeric leaves and red chillies.
