Halloween is a holiday that evolved from ancient Celtic traditions on 31 October.
The Celtic belief was that on the evening of 31 October the spirits of the dead would return, and because they could enter the living, the living would wear disguising masks to deceive and confuse the spirits of the dead.
The most popular elements of today's Halloween festival are witches, ghosts, black cats, mythical supernatural creatures, fairies, goblins and other hosts of horrors.
