paraffin oil is the medium and high quality 99.9% Mg metal shavings
and reagent grade KOH and Tert butanol were also used.
The oil,Mg, and KOH were placed into a 100ml flask fitted with a reflux condenser and heated to 250C. the catalyst was then added and the whole thing left to reflux for several hours yielding K metal by the end of the reaction.
