Short physical chemistry lecture on the energy levels of atoms and molecules.

All atoms and molecules have three translational energy levels, and electronic energy. Linear molecules have 2 rotational energy levels, and non-linear molecules have 3. Linear molecules have 3n-5 vibrational modes, and non-linear molecules have 3n-6.
