Briefly, we follow these steps:
Download a TTF Linux font (e.g. Fira-Mono.ttf)
Create a user fonts folder:
$ mkdir ~/.local/share/fonts
Copy or Move the font file into user fonts folder
$ cp font_name.ttf ~/.local/share/fonts
Refresh fonts cache:
$ fc-cache -f -v
