How to prepare for a BIG update of No Man's Sky? Well, in this video I try to answer that as best I can, giving some recommendations.
To find your save files, if you are on Steam:
PC: C:\Users\[your_username]/AppData/Roaming/HelloGames/NMS/st_76561197975032661/*.hg
MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/st_76561197975032661/
Xbox on PC: C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\Packages\HelloGames.NoMansSky\SystemAppData\wgs\

For people playing directly on Xbox, there is also a Cloud Save mechanism. You can see it in Settings .. System .. Storage .. Select Manage game saves and find No Man's Sky on the list. Unfortunately, it is probably what NMS is already using, so like the Switch, it may not be an alternative storage location.
