Tiger Mask I, aka Satoru Sayama, is well known in Japan for being the innovator of the Junior Heavyweight Style that we see in NJPW today. At one point in time from 1981 - 1983, he was probably one of the biggest stars alongside Inoki and Riki Choshu. However, he retired from wrestling in 1983 out of nowhere at the age of 24, citing his hatred for backstage politics at the time, and went on to start his own Martial Arts school afterwards. In addition to being known as Tiger Mask, Sayama was also known for being an absolute trainer, and his 'Training Camp from Hell' video is one of the most watched MMA related content on Japanese Youtube.
