Amber Mark couldn’t sit still as a child, but it wasn’t because she was a wayward youth. Her mother, a Tibetan Buddhist painter of German descent, had a passion for travel and took her daughter from city to city as she instilled a chase-your-dream attitude in her. When Mark’s mother passed in 2013, the singer heeded mom’s advice and it throttled her interest in music. The result was 2017’s ‘3:33am’ EP, which explored feelings of loss through a pastiche of sounds, including R&B, pop, bossa nova and more. The follow-up, this year’s ‘Conexão,’ again finds Mark turning inward to process her feelings, this time regarding heartache. In a pair of DSVR ATW 2019 performances, Mark showcases her breezy vocals on the sunny “Put You On” and shows us her fighting spirit with testimony on “Way Back.”
