This blazer works because it's balancing their figures out, both ladies are broader on their top half. The shoulder detail is broadening them at the top while the lapel draws the eye down creating the illusion of a smaller waist. Finally the blazer kicks out at the thigh, again broadening this area and recreating the hourglass shape
