Söllscher plays a custom made eleven-string alto guitar, invented by violin maker and luthier Georg Bolin and Söllscher's teacher, Per-Olof Johnson, in the 1960s. This type of guitar is specifically designed to allow the player to play Renaissance (and by extension, Baroque) lute music.
