Is PipeWire as good as JACK for pro audio on Linux? What is qpwgraph? Is Pipewire hard to use? How different is it to jack? Isn’t it just another audio layer for us Linux users to wrap our heads around? Surely that’s less efficient?
These are the kinds of questions that knocked around in my head since I heard about #pipewire, but some annoying conflicts between #jack and #pulseaudio bridge lately got me too curious to wait any longer. Here’s what I found: PipeWire is awesome. It does everything that JACK and Pulseaudio did before and more. I’ve had PipeWire for a week now and I can’t see any reason to go back to JACK. It just feels way more integrated.
I also downloaded wireplumber and I forgot to mention in the video, the very handy terminal command, pw-top for monitoring everything.
