For some odd reason, Windows will take over your PDF files and try to make you open them with Microsoft Edge rather than Adobe Acrobat\Reader. When this happens you need to change the default app that Windows uses to open your PDF files. This procedure was done in Windows 11 but works almost the same for Windows 10.
