The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is responsible for assisting with disasters in California that exceed the ability of locals to respond to them. The need for very accurate data was apparent. They brought in Esri and the ArcGIS platform to visualize their data digitally after the Napa earthquake. Real time data was a huge improvement from the flat static maps that were previously used. Cal OES transformed from a 5% digital environment to a 95% digital platform in a matter of months.
