Mary of Teck | Duty Before Love
Mary of Teck was the wife of King George V of the United Kingdom. She was Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and Empress of India from 1910 until 1936. While her husband reigned as king, Mary supported her husband through the many challenges he faced. A formidable woman, she put the Crown before herself and her family, turning her back on her eldest son, King Edward VIII, when he chose to abdicate in order to marry his true love Wallis Simpson. She lived through the reigns of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King Edward VII, and King George VI, and the beginning of her granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
