Conditional Formatting in Excel allows you to easily highlight information. For example, you may want everyone in the Accounting Department to show in a yellow background, or you may want any numbers over 100 to show in a blue font and grey background. Conditional Formatting has two huge advantages over manually highlighting data. One, it is much quicker and more accurate. If you manually try to select the Accounting Department, you can make a mistake, and it is time-consuming. Another advantage is if the data changes, the Conditional Formatting ticks in.
Conditional Formatting is located on the Home Tab in the Styles Group. The categories for Conditional Formatting include Highlight Cells Rules, Top/Bottom Rules, Data Bars, Color Scales, and Icon Sets. You can also write your own rule, clear rules, and manager rules.
