New NVIDIA "Ampere" RTX 3000 cards are coming to replace your Pascal and Turing GPUs. NVIDIA is claiming this is the biggest generational leap ever, with even the cheapest new card, the $499 RTX 3070, besting the previously top-of-the-line 2080 Ti, which costs twice as much. These gains come from an improved 8nm process (compared to the 12nm NVIDIA was using before), and some major architectural changes. We have a few weeks to wait to find out how the cards really perform, but here's our first take on what could be the biggest GPU launches in years.
