Before You Shuck, Find Out What's Inside Your External Hard Drive
In this video, I show you how to find out what's inside your external hard drive - whether it's a Western Digital Easystore, MyBook, or Elements, or a Seagate Expansion, Backup Plus, or Backup Plus Hub - before you shuck the drive. After installing CrystalDiskInfo on Windows 10, we can find out the model number of the internal 3.5" disk. By discovering the model number without physically removing the disk from the case, you can decide whether you want to shuck it.

It's hasn't been updated in a while but it is still relevant today. It's also more geared toward the 8TB capacities, but has information that is general to others.
