We hear a lot about unstressed vowels in Russian. But there can be subtle variations in how stressed vowels are pronounced, too.
In this video we'll listen to native speakers to get a sense of how and why the stressed vowels in тем and семь, and сел and сели, are slightly different. We'll also look at this difference in есть vs. ест. At first glance, it may seem that есть "starts with a vowel," but does it start with a vowel sound, or a consonant sound? After watching this video, you'll see why that matters!
