RARE Rusty Mace Restoration. I found this mace in the forest. The mace was very rusty and broken. I decided to restore a rusty mace for the museum. I removed the rust and preserved the old metal. A pernach is a type of flanged mace originating in the 12th century in the region of Ukraine and later widely used throughout Europe. The type I found belongs to the 16th-18th century. In Ukraine of the 16th-18th centuries, the pernach was a sign of the power of kurin atamans and colonels, it belonged to the kleinods, the insignia and attributes of the power of the Ukrainian Cossack chieftain.
