Discretization is one of the key steps in data preprocessing phase of any Data related project. Certain predictive modeling techniques expect the features to be of categorical type and the process of converting numeric data into categorical is called as Discretization. If we convert numeric data into '2' categories then it is called as binarization. Discretization is also called as grouping or binning.
