A fragrance need not be overwhelmingly rich or complicated in order to be a true masterpiece- sometimes, all you need is a combination of uniquely conceived notes so perfectly aligned that a single whiff jolts you from reality into reverie. That's exactly what the brilliantly compelling Warm Bulb has to offer- a scentscape of understated simplicity, yet dramatically evocative power. Clue describes Warm Bulb as "a lamp's light bak[ing] yellowed pages underneath, " and sure enough, this is the scent of an incandescent lightbulb- the yellow glow of the hot bulb, a layer of dust gently baking on its surface, illuminating the dry, cracked pages of a well-loved paperback book in a suburban rec room where the curtains still carry the faint trace of indoor smoking, while a soft vanilla wafts in from the kitchen. To call Warm Bulb "cozy" seems like a dramatic understatement- its sense of time and place is so distinct, the warmth it creates so palpable, that it's easy to lose yourself in its gentle power. Nostalgic, unique, clever, and captivating, Warm Bulb is more than deserving of the accolades coming its way.
