The Bristlecone and Alpine Loop in Great Basin National Park is a top pick for hikers. This 6.2-mile trail offers a mix of high peaks, glaciers, alpine lakes, and ancient bristlecone pines. Starting from Wheeler Peak Campground, you'll first pass Stella Lake and Teresa Lake, both serene subalpine tarns. The hike also takes you through the Bristlecone Pine Grove, where some of the world's oldest trees grow.

The trail is well-marked and features a gradual ascent, making it suitable for most skill levels. You'll end up at the Wheeler Peak Glacier, Nevada's only glacier, which includes a unique rock glacier. It's best to do this hike from May to October, as snow can make it challenging outside these months. Make sure to bring enough water and backcountry essentials since there are no water sources along the route. For more information and a detailed guide, visit hikingguy.com.
