What does 1 Thessalonians
For those who have a rapture theology, one of their go-to prooftexts is 1 Thessalonians 4:17. “Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” But does this text teach a rapture, a snatching away of the church to heaven, or does it reveal the second coming of Jesus back to earth. Context, namely surrounding and historical context, give us a clue as to what Paul was communicating.
