Do you watch a lot of videos online? In the Opera browser, you can watch a video in a separate frame while continuing to browse in other tabs. Multitasking has never been easier.
A better way to watch video in the browser
Those of you who often multitask on the web are going to love this new function in Opera. The new video pop out feature lets you browse the web while watching the video everybody is talking about at the same time. So go on and check tomorrow’s weather, read your favorite blog and watch a video a the same time.
How to use video pop out in Opera
When you are watching a video in Opera, click on the icon appearing in the top part of the frame. After you’ve activated the pop out, you can drag the video frame wherever you want to on the screen. That’s it, you are all set to start multitasking. Watch your video while you continue to browse and switch between all your open tabs. You won’t miss a minute off the video you’re watching – the video follows you across all your tabs. Especially convenient at work! ;)
You can, of course, press stop and play directly in the pop out video frame. To leave the video pop out mode, click the close button in the upper-right corner. This action will also pause the original video.
Also, the video frame can be moved freely around on the screen. Multitasking has never been easier. Give it a try!
How people use Opera to watch video
There are plenty of different cases when Opera’s video pop out can be handy for you. To learn more about the ways it helps our users, we did a research a looked at some usage statistics. Here’s what we found out.
Some use it to share their screen with their kids, letting them watch video while they work on other things on the same computer. Others use it for watching conference recordings, TED talks, online lectures, coding tutorials or extremely long videos (like slow TV).
Where the video pop out feature is the most popular
We took a deeper look at how people multitask while watching video in different locations in the world. The top 10 countries span four different continents, showing that the online video boom is truly a global phenomenon. It’s also interesting to see that people in some countries – such as Italy, the UK and Germany – spend much more time watching videos during the weekend, while others, such as China or Spain, tend to multitask more during weekdays.
