Wednesday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day, with a Level 2 risk for severe storms for most of our viewing area. WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said showers and storms will be likely Wednesday morning, but those won't be severe. The severe risk comes later in the afternoon, between 4 p.m. and midnight. Gardner said storms are expected to move in during the afternoon and evening. Wind damage will be the biggest threat, and isolated tornadoes and pockets of heavy rain will also be possible.
A WRAL Weather Alert Day was issued Wednesday morning after our severe risk was upgraded. We could see a few isolated showers Wednesday morning, but the bulk of the rain isn't expected until later in the day.
