Italy was a global nuclear energy leader, before closing all its nuclear plants after Chernobyl. But it retains a nearly complete nuclear supply chain, and issues around fossil fuel affordability and climate change are leading to a radical rethinking right now. Similarly, Spain is pursuing a nuclear phaseout and Portugal never even got started with nuclear, but both now host grassroots movements to reconsider nuclear for climate and energy security. In this session, young advocates explain why they've restarted the nuclear conversation.
