In this tutorial, we will change four key data security settings within Avast Antivirus, restricting the amount of personal information shared with Avast and its partners.

The reputation of Avast Antivirus has suffered significant harm in early 2020, with allegations of shared user data allowing personally identifiable information to be readily aggregated with existing databases, forming an ever more detailed user profile. Whilst many will understandably look elsewhere for their online protection, our suggested settings restrict and remove data sharing permissions which may be enabling data leaks by default.
