“Sora produces images of striking reality and surreality, both represented in this video, which began as an attempt to recreate some family history in West Virginia in 1934, but quickly pivoted to a very different, and utterly fictional short. Working with Sora feels improvisational. You give it direction and it gives that back, sometimes with some other ideas, or a different emphasis. A sense of wonder and amazement colors the process. Often it's an image, unexpectedly beautiful, or unexpectedly strange, that leads to further exploration and discovery. Ultimately, the process feels like a collaboration between our intentions and a field of dreams.”
