Ghost is a CMS like WordPress, except it comes with built-in features for paying subscribers and an email list, all for one low price. On top of that you can have free, publicly available blog posts that rank organically that can be monetized.
What I personally find quite powerful is the email marketing features Ghost provides. You can run a proper, branded newsletter as well as send out new content to both free and/or paying subscribers.
In those newsletters you can have private content blocks that are only viewable within an email client and provide specific calls to action as well as promo codes.
Overall, I would put Ghost on your radar if you're looking for the best Patreon alternative.
So where does Patreon shine? They are rolling out a video hosting option for select accounts where you can have 500 GB of video. Ghost limits you to 100 mb on their creator plan and 5 mb on their starter plan. You can also livestream on Patreon too.
