Covid19 (SARS-Cov-2) is still a burden and threat in todays life. Novavax is the brand new vaccine on the market against the corona virus. In contrast to the mRNA vaccines, Novavax is based on protein subunits (artificially produced spike proteins). An insect virus (Baculovirus) is exploited to transfer the genetic code for the spike protein into an insect cell (SF9 cells in culture). Inside those cells, massive amounts of the protein will be produced. Those can be harvested and are attached to a PS80 core forming the nanoparticle.
