Nobody enjoys laggy playback in davinci resolve, and a lot of times this could be not because of our hardware, but because of the playback settings on our program.
So, how do you have Smooth Playback In Davinci Resolve 16?
In this quick video I show you one thing that you can try to better your playback experience in davinci resolve.
Video Summary
So, the main things to take into account are:
1. Go to project settings, and in Optimized Media And Render Cache on the Master settings section; Set your Optimized Media Format to DNxHR SQ (For windows) I forgot to mention it in the video, but if your using MAC, I think that ProRes might be the better option, I don't have a mac, so I can't tell you much more in that regard.
2. Make sure that "Enable Background caching __ after" is selected, and set to 1, but you can try different numbers.
3. On the Playback dropdown menu, make sure that "Use Optimized Media If Available" is selected.
4. Set "Render Cache" to User.
5. Last, if nothing works, try selecting one of the Proxy modes options.
6. Make sure you right click on your footage and check Render Chache Color Output.
