Born in Beijing in 1998, classical guitarist Beiyan Liu is currently a faculty member at the Tianjin Juilliard School. Beiyan graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music, studying under Professor Meng Su at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in the United States, Associate Professor Jiajiong Li and Associate Professor Jie Li from the Central Conservatory of Music.
Beiyan has competed and won awards in numerous prestigious international competitions, collaborated as a featured soloist with the China National Symphony Orchestra, and participated in recordings for programs on CCTV Music Channel. Her performances have taken her to venues across China, the United States, France, and Germany, including iconic music halls such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall, and Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
In chamber music, Beiyan is a founding member of the "Harmony Chamber Ensemble," which was honored with the "Special Prize" in the chamber music category at the A-class international music competition, the Klingenthal International Accordion Competition in Germany. She has also released an album with the chamber ensemble titled "Tango of Flowers."
In the realms of film, theater, and dance, Beiyan has appeared as an actress in award-winning film "My Heart Leaps Up," participated in the recording of the film music for Feng Xiaogang's movie "Youth," and served as the music director and guitarist for the drama "Primitive Family" at the Festival d’Avignon in France. She has collaborated with renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun in lectures and solo performances for "Music and Film - Commemorating Music Master Toru Takemitsu."and performed solo with renowned ballerina and principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet, Yuanyuan Tan, in performances of "Carmen", touring nationally.
In the realm of teaching, Beiyan's independently planned, filmed, and produced educational videos on music education and classical guitar performance have garnered approximately 6 million views on mainstream internet platforms. Her personal account has accumulated over one hundred thousand followers, receiving praise from both insiders and outsiders in the industry, and she is actively committed to classical guitar teaching activities.
