The Environmental Protection Agency has issued the toughest emissions standards for vehicle emissions requirements through 2026,... potentially speeding a U.S. shift to electric vehicles.
Calling them "the most ambitious standards ever set in the U.S.',... the EPA says emissions standards for cars and light trucks will be tightened to 23-point-4 kilometers a liter.
This replaces the looser Trump-era standards.
The EPA forecasts it will save consumers money and prevent billions of tons of carbon emissions a year.
The 2023 to 2026 standards will increase by 5 to 10 percent each year,... before reaching the target by 2026.
