Singapore’s Parliament was dissolved on 15 April 2025, marking the official start of the General Election period. Nomination Day is scheduled for 23 April, while Polling Day will take place on 3 May, which falls on a Saturday during a long weekend.

Despite Parliament being dissolved, the Government remains functional—ministers and civil services continue their work. The dissolution only affects Members of Parliament (MPs), who vacate their seats until new representatives are elected.

Nomination Day is when potential candidates submit physical paperwork at official Nomination Centres, usually schools. Any errors in the paperwork can result in disqualification, as seen in previous elections. Once nominations are finalized, candidates cannot switch constituencies. The official campaigning period lasts for nine days, from 23 April to 1 May, during which political parties reach out to voters.

Following the campaign period is Cooling Day on 2 May, a mandatory pause in campaigning to allow voters to reflect before casting their votes. Polling Day on 3 May remains a public holiday, meaning employers must provide time off in lieu or a substitute day.
