Canon Hybrid Shooter w/ Film Simulations
Being a hybrid shooter can be quite tedious at times when you're constantly flipping between stills and video. So I'm probably not the only hybrid shooter that lets the video exposure dictate the exposure settings I use for stills and vice versa.
In this video I'll share the camera settings settings I use when I'm shooting with my custom picture styles/film simulations on my Canon camera. Custom picture styles or not. I use these settings for pretty much any shooting scenario unless the scene really need a very high shutter speed or different ISO.
When it comes to white balance I tend to stick to the built in WB settings on my Canon camera.
Emulating a film look - the WB is usually in Day light and on rare occasions set to either tungsten or flash. Just to stay somewhat true to actually shooting film in terms of white balace.
The majority of the samples in this video was shot with a vintage zoom lens - Auto Chinon 35-70mm f2.7-3.5 vintage lenses are awesome, but please bear in mind that colors can come across as less saturated and contrast is typically also a bit lower than contemporary lenses.
