In this project, a "Train Collision Avoidance System" is developed using model trains to demonstrate the application of modern technology in enhancing railway safety. The system is designed to detect potential collisions and prevent accidents by incorporating ultrasonic sensors (SR04), an Arduino Nano microcontroller, a single-channel relay, and HW batteries.
The core components of the system include SR04 ultrasonic sensors, which are mounted on the trains to continuously measure the distance between them and any obstacles or other trains on the same track. The Arduino Nano microcontroller processes real-time data from the sensors to determine if a collision is imminent.
Upon detecting a potential collision, the system activates the single-channel relay to trigger safety measures. These measures include stopping the trains or slowing them down to avoid the collision. The HW batteries power the entire system, ensuring reliable operation.
This collision avoidance system demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of using sensor technology and real-time data processing to enhance railway safety. By implementing such systems, railways can significantly reduce the risk of accidents, ensuring safer travel for passengers and cargo.
