A sneak peak of Michael Palin’s never-before-seen super 8mm home movies, with new commentary from Michael Palin himself, from the Python’s time writing and filming “The Life of Brian”.
The final pre-production script for "The Life of Brian" was finished and ready to go by January 1978, but not without a couple of weeks focused writing in sunny Barbados. The Pythons wrote for six hours a day for the two weeks they were there. The 'there' is Heron Bay, a house loaned to the group by a friend of Eric’s Michael Palin captured the fun of writing under the Caribbean sun with his trusty Super 8mm camera, which also travelled with him to Monastir in Tunisia in 1978 for the filming of “The Life of Brian”.
Michael says of the film: "Shot rather restlessly, I was as interested in panning about in trees, along limestone walls and front gates than I was in filming the Pythons, and I regret that".
You can see the full-length films as part of the the BFI Southbank’s Python season “It’s… Monty Python at 50” from 1 September 2019. For more details visit: https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/Online/mon...
