How to learn to code for beginners. Don't make this mistake when learning to code and subscribe / @codingafterthirty
When I first started out learning to code, I made a lot of mistakes, but my biggest mistake has been doing tutorial after tutorial without trying to create something new based on what I learned.
If you ask," Why people fail at learning code?" this would be on the top of my list.
You see, when you follow a tutorial, you are not creating anything. Instead, you are copying, most of the time, word per word what the instructor has created.
It's is no different than tracing a circle and calling it your creation. It is a copy.
If you stop here, you are making a huge mistake.
Instead, here are the steps that I follow. Give them a try
Step 1: Complete one tutorial online.
Step 2: Recreate the same project with your own personal spin. Instead of using the tutorial as a reference, use the project that you created by following that tutorial.
Step 3: Put all your notes away, and try to create a new project using what you have learned. Instead of using your prior notes, use google, stack overflow or any other website to find your own solution and figure it out.
In my opinion, this is the most important skill that you can have when first learning web development.
Let me know in the comments below what tips have worked for you?
