The 1980s were a golden age of action movies. Devoid of political correctness, the need to provide pointless characters of every gender and ethnicity just so corporate suits can tick a box, and the habit of watering down the violence and destruction so as to appeal to the widest possible audience – note to Hollywood: movies about fighting and killing, mortal combat, death by guns and stabbing weapons, that shioa is not for kids so don’t even go there, just aim it at the appropriate target audience, i.e. adults, and unleash hell. If I wanted to watch a fu**ing Disney movie I’d buy a tiara and take my kids to the movies. The 80s movies were larger than life. You got to kill bad mofo’s and make an amusing quip afterwards, the heroes didn’t need psychological wishy-washy backstories to explain why they were bad ass. They just were bad ass. You mess with them they will kill you, or, at the very least, make you bleed. Simple, it doesn’t need a context or origin story to make the beautiful violence pseudo acceptable to soft, fat, liberals. 80s action movies practically defined Elite Outcomes.
