Two weeks after the attack on Israel on 7 October 2023, the orchestra played one of the saddest concerts in its history to an empty hall, with pictures of the hostages placed on seats in the auditorium. Today, one year later, there are still 101 hostages in Hamas captivity.
Paul Ben-Haim's uplifting and touching Fanfare to Israel, composed in 1950, embodies the spirit of the young State of Israel as it rose from the ashes.
One year later, we are still grieving and in pain, but our hearts are full of hope that we will soon see the safe return of the hostages and the soldiers.
