First pipeline laid to carry natural gas from the Black Sea
Turkiye has laid its first offshore pipeline to carry natural gas from the Black Sea. It aims to begin pumping by early next year.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hailed his country as one of few nations in the world with its own drilling fleet. Located about 150 kilometers off the Turkish coast, the gas field is home to Turkiye's largest discovery of natural gas. Türkiye has been searching for natural gas in the Mediterranean and Black seas for the past four years. So far, it's found an estimated 540 billion cubic metres of fuel.
