The Orkney Islands can be reached by 90 min ferry from Scrabster to Stromness. It has a wealth of archeological sites from the Bronze and Stone Age - Unstan Chambered Cairn, Stones of Stenness, Ness of Brodgar, Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae. Exploring on cycle I was only able to visit the central cluster as the weather was not reliables and hilly cycling over distances. I also took the North Link ferry both ways (Scrabster-Stromness) returning on the sleeper Kirkwall-Aberdeen ferry. There is a tour of both ferries and the sleeper cabin on return.
