Avalanche is an open-source, proof-of-stake blockchain with smart contract functionality that uses the Snow family of consensus protocols. It aims to provide similar functionality to Ethereum while being faster, cheaper, and more energy efficient. This talk is aimed at beginning to intermediate developers who wish to expand their knowledge of emerging Layer 1 blockchains.

What you'll learn from this talk:
• An introduction to Avalanche, why it was created, and how to set up your MetaMask wallet for AVAX
• How to develop a Solidity smart contract with Hardhat and Ethers.js
• How to deploy the smart contract to Avalanche's test network, Fuji
• How to interact with the deployed contract from a React frontend
