Synopsis:
In 1994, in a southern city open to economic reform, Chairman Xu Jingfeng and General Manager Yu Jie of a certain company stood at the entrance, greeting employees as they arrived for work. General Manager Yu introduced Development Manager Yuan Fang to Chairman Xu. Xu’s secretary, Liang Yifan, approached, and Xu quietly asked her to meet him after work. Later, Chairman Xu accompanied foreign guests on a tour of the workshop, expressing satisfaction with the department under Yuan Fang’s management and praising him as talented. Xu invited Yuan Fang to take on the role of company union chairman, which Yuan couldn’t refuse. Although Liang Yifan arrived punctually for their meeting, Xu failed to show up. Meanwhile, several party members held a meeting to discuss the tense labor relations at the company, urging Yuan Fang to take a proactive role as union chairman.
