Did you know that NATO member Finland has one of the strongest artillery capabilities in Europe with approximately 1,500 weapons?

Finland has hosted several international exercises both on land and in the air since the country’s accession to NATO in April 2023. Exercises Lightning Strike and Northern Forest, which took place at the Rovajärvi exercise area in northern Finland in May and June 2023, aimed to develop joint fire and combat operations between Finnish Defence Forces, Allied forces and Sweden.
7,000 Finnish troops were joined by nearly 1,000 Allied forces from Norway, the United Kingdom, the United States and also neighbouring Sweden for these first exercises hosted by Finland since it joined the Alliance.
