Maria Zhuravleva is a talented surgeon. She is young and beautiful, she is appreciated by colleagues and patients, and recently she met true love. Maria could be absolutely happy, there is only one "but". In fact, Maria Zhuravleva... is not alive. Another girl lives and works under her name – Zoya Kovalevskaya, who served time in a colony for medical error.
A few years ago, Zoya went to prison for a crime she didn't commit. After serving her sentence, she became embroiled in another criminal story. Her accidental traveling companion, a young surgeon Maria Zhuravleva, was killed on the train by unknown people. To avoid suspicion falling on Zoya, she was forced to flee with the documents of the deceased.
Zoya dreams of returning to her favorite profession and therefore decides to take a desperate step: posing as Maria, she deceives her into taking her place in one of the leading clinics in the capital to work under the guidance of the famous surgeon Andrei Konstantinov. The girl begins to live someone else's life, but now how can the impostor not drown in her own lies?
