Finland was attacked by the USSR in November 1939 which led to the winter war, a Finnish defeat and the loss of around ten percent of its territory plus around 30,000 lives. Soviet casualties were around seven times greater, however the population of the USSR was then around 50 times more so it was a Finnish attritional defeat too. This attack was unprovoked and a simple case of aggressive imperialism. Given the current regime in the Kremlin has similar designs on its neighbours, Finland has every reason to seek additional protection. In this video I discuss the issues at hand.

My history channel is based on my own research and generally comes from places I have visited and or original research. I live in a motorhome and as such spend most of my time travelling between Poland, Germany and Italy which is why there is a tendency to produce material from these countries, and sometimes material that is not available in English. My speciality is in World War Two, and in particular, the Holocaust although as you can see, I have opinions on a lot of other historical subjects too.
